digging around...

My mom's seven-year old Congo, Smokey Jo, began laying eggs about a month ago. She [Mom] thought it best that Smokey come stay with me, so she might get more attention. She layed three more eggs, but seems to have stopped.

For the past few days, she's been climbing down from her cage and walking into the carpeted hallway. Smokey puts her beak to the floor and scratches around like a chicken. I've heard of younger Greys doing such things, but I thought they were supposed to grow out of it. I've thought maybe it's just stress, but I don't have much experience with bigger birds.

Any ideas???

Since I never breed my birds I would say I'm guessing, but it make sense.

I think that she might need some more grit/calcium. She just layed her eggs, and she's probably on deficit. On nature they get their grit by scratching it from the ground.

Just an idea.
