Tari
Tinker Bell is my 16 year old pekeneese. She was throwing up yesterday and wobble on her feet. This happened after the vet was closed. I gave her something for her upset tummy. But this morning she can hardly walk. She keeps trying to but her feet just wont stay under her and her little head is all cocked to the side. Please let it be something simple like inter ear problems and not a stroke or her liver failing. Not sure I can take putting to sleep anouther pet this soon after Thor. She is going to the vet before I leave for work. Please please don't let it be bad. Sorry for all the misspelled words my new browser does not have a spell checker.

Post edited by: Tari, at: 2008/05/14 13:

judygram
Tari I am so sorry to hear of this and it does not sound good either and I am afraid it may be bad news also for the dog is 16 years old, they don't live forever. I hope it is something simple like an inner ear problem but you won't know until Tinkerbell has seen the vet, I pray that is all it is but I will keep Tinkerbell in my thoughts and prayers the problem is simple and easily fixed. Just hang in there Tari as we will help you thru this difficult period and I await the results of the vet visit.
Tari
Good news for Tinker Bell. She has what is believed to be an inter ear infection. The vet started her on steriods and antibotics. She even managed to walk down the hall and not fall over. Little wobble still but she did walk. He is keeping her over night but he says he has seen many dogs recover from this so the odds are with her. Also I was wrong on her age she is only 14 years old. If things go well she can come home tomorrow.
judygram
This is wonderful news Tari and I am so happy that was all it was, an inner ear infection, very easily taken care of and she will be home tomorrow and may she have many more enjoyable years with you and your family. Thanks Tari for updating us on Tinkerbell:kiss:
MommaFawkes
I thought it sounded like an inner ear infection. I have treated many many cats for that when I worked on the farm. Its a very scary thing to see! Glad its not serious! Tari
Well I talked to the vet again. While they are not 100% sure it is an inter ear infection, might just as easly be a stroke. They are still very hopeful for her recovery and it well be a few days before we know how much of one. She is doing well and ate some so that is good. Still very wobble on her feet and they want to keep her over night too keep an eye on her. I'll know more about her in the morning. They did do blood work and all that come back perfect so that is a sign.
judygram
Oh gosh Tari I hope it turns out to just be an inner ear infection as a stroke will be more of a problem to deal with, I will keep Tinker Bell in my thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery. Tari
She is home and on three different meds. She can get around but she looks like she is drunk. Not falling over as often. I go back in 10 days to have her looked at. He was very nice about the bill too no over night charge and a discount on the office visit. He feels we should have a good recovery and that other then the stock she is in excellent health.
judygram
That is wonderful news Tari, Tinker Bell is home and recovering nicely and you have a very considerate vet there to give you a break on the bill, most won't budge on it. :cheer: B)
