ROLLEMUP
Hi. Has anyone experienced this. My bird is 15 years old and has been with me since he was weaned from seed. Lately he really likes to bite my nails. He does a good job of clipping - but whyyyyyyyyyyy. He really gets upset when I don't hand over my hand. It doesn't hurt or anything but lately I have these dreams I will go to sleep and wake up with no fingers!!!!!!!! And there he is the african vampire grey, the V CAG. Is this some sort of grooming? lovemyGreys
Well maybe it's because A parrot's beak is made of keratin, just like human fingernails, they may be attracted to the nails,it is a fairly common occurrence, i personally would discourage it
danmcq
It does seem to be a common thing for any Parrot to "Try". Most people discourage it as LovemyGreys indicated. Very odd dreams :-) Looking forward to hearing more from you rollemup. Any significance to the name?

Maybe you could hire him out if he is doing a good job!!!  But seriously, I would discourage him from doing that, you could distract him with something else, maybe a toy or play a game with him, anything to take his mind off doing the nail clipping. judygram
On another note, why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you and your grey, like what is his name!!!
