Have you had problems previously with poor plumage and found some solution that has improved your grey's feathers? What do you do to keep the feathers healthy and fabulous?

I shower them... Liath got very scruffy looking when she was about 1 particularly on the front edges of her wings (I dont know the proper name for them). Lots of showers later and she looks lovely now!

Some people use aloe vera spray after their shower too.

You could feed your grey red palm oil, this can improve the condition of feathers. I feed mine 1/2 teaspoon mixed in with his food daily. There are threads on here about the palm oil, when you get chance Carol try and have a read. Caroline.

A lot of us feed our greys some red palm oil every day, I use about 1/4 teaspoon in some oatmeal or some baby food fed with a spoon.

And the regular bathing helps also with a finish of aloe vera juice.

Where do you get this red palm oil? I have had a quick look in a local health food shop but they don't do it there. Is there anybody here in the forums from the UK that buys it?

I have just bought a jar from 24parrots.com I have bought from them before and their delivery times are brilliant. I bought a bag of nuts as well. I will let you know if my fussy birds will eat either of them :)

I use Red Palm Oil too....the vet "prescribed" it. I put a dab on her favorite food...at the moment her fav foods are walnuts and/or almonds. She goes for it first thing in the morning...she has an orangish right foot from it, but that's ok...lol
