Lupa Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Hi Everyone! We added to our flock yesterday and brought home a baby pied white-faced cockatiel. We have named him Zeus, and he is currently in quarantine, we don't want him making Shani sick. I had a good look at him this morning and noticed that with his feet instead of two toes forward toe toes back he sometimes walks with three toes forward on his perch. Its almost like the one toe is lame. Does anyone know if this is normal? I'm taking him to the vet on Monday for his first visit but if this requires immediate attention i can take him today. Thanks
Lupa Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 oh and its only with his one foot that he does this...
lovemyGreys Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 He was probably born with the toe problem,it's not normal but a common abnormality often found in small birds. i would not worry to much, he knows no different & it wont stop him from perching, playing etc...i have a female budgie with abnormal feet & she lives life to the full
judygram Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 If he has been this way all his life then he knows no different and if he acts normal in every other way and gets around with no problem then just leave well enough alone, he is fine that way.:side: :silly:
