Falconeer
Dear all... Since yesterday afternoon, My Baby is simply rejecting his syringe and spoon. In the morning when he is most hungry, he just did not seem very enthusiastic about the feeder and I. He is paying a lot more attention to the cashews, apples, green chillies and garbanzo beans, and some sunflower seeds that I offer him today. Is he okay? He will loose weight like this he is now 370 gms. Is he weaned? Advice please!
judygram
I would hardly think that at 10 weeks of age that he was weaned already, don't you have to reduce the number of feedings until they are eating solid foods for a while. I don't know much about handfeeding as I have never done that but Tracy will be the one to give the best advice.
Falconeer
I mean yes he had some by hand, but not as much. And he has been playing normal and munching on solid food all day. He takes a 45 min play break and comes back to his food.

lovemyGreys
He wont be fully weaned at 10 weeks Fal, but babies will start to refuse less hand formula, follow your baby on how much formula he wants to take,be sure to offer a good variety of foods.Plenty of mixed veggies, fruits, pulses, moistened pellet/ a good quality seed mix with a low amount of sunflower seed. siobha9
I am so glad to hear no seeds. Take it from me who has 2 seed junkies! I don't understand why parrots are weaned onto seed when it is universally known that pellets are better for them:S . Then owners are left with the task of trying to feed their birds balanced diets. Actually I do understand... seed is cheaper!
lovemyGreys
I think it's just down to personal chioce Siobhan. My boys were weaned on to seed along with fruit, veggies & everything else. They were fed a high quality seed mix & remain on that today along with everything else they eat.My seed is no means cheap, along with a tropical mix, pulses i spend in the region of £50 per month, not including their veggies & fresh fruit

di2008
hi guys as you all know i dont get my baby until july and by that time he will be around 15weeks, the pet shop owner said he will be fully weaned then, is this right at his age? as i dont want to bring home an unweaned baby, i dont know anything about hand feeding:unsure: she did say she does'nt let them out of her shop until weaned and she once had one that took 26weeks!! lovemyGreys
Hi Di, 15 weeks should be absolutely fine, 3 1/2 months seems to be the average age in the UK. My 2 boys were 14 weeks. I assume you can visit your baby ? Follow his progress, observe him eating, dont be scared to ask questions, like what foods will he be weaned on ? Seeds, pellets, veggies, fruit etc..? idealy if he is offered these foods from an early age you will be able to continue feeding him a varied diet when he comes home All babies are different & every now & then you will get one that takes much longer to wean.
