smithie007
I have come across an individual named freddy sakila who is willing to let me have his hyacinth macaw for only the shipping. The shipping is like 1,000. i dont know how to tell if this is a scam or not. has anyone heard of this guys name used in scams? does anyone have any suggestions? Tari
I have no clue who this is. But shipping should not cost that much. I can ship a bird for 150.00. So if I was you I would not do this that alone makes it sound like a scam.
smithie007
Wow! your right it does sound like a scam now. He said that she would be coming from Europe. He was moving and that she couldnt go with him. He wanted us to send him pics of her living with us and stuff. Is the price more right if she's coming from Europe? I have no idea on these things. thanks for all your help!
Tari
Is it even legal to tranport a bird from there without it staying at a QT station for 6 months? Where do you live? No clue about how much to ship a parrot over seas but can't see anyone being able to do that without a full vet work up.
judygram
I wouldn't want to risk my $1000 on it, smells like a rat to me:sick: :pinch: B)
smithie007
I live in Indiana. He says that she has papers. Dont know what that means. She has a microchip too. Im getting more uneasy about it the more we all talk.
Tari
Ya in most cases this kind of scam is to get your money. I would rather pay full price and get the bird rather then chance it. But that is just me.
lovemyGreys
hyacinth macaw's if your lucky enough to find one would cost thousands, definitely a scam !!
smithie007
thanks for your input. I havent given him any money yet and have only been emailing him for the last couple of days. he is giving a lot of information out about her. all of it seems to be correct. allwell. guess its $10,000 poorer for me.
siobha9
Surely he can find someone in Europe to buy a bird as beautiful as a Hyacinth, and I cant imagine anyone who owns one, wouldnt know their value? My vote is its a scam....
Tari
You know your right they do cost about 8000 but my friend has one that was given to her. They wanted someone they knew to have the bird. However they have not once come to visit in the five years she has had it.
