lovemyGreys
Toss, Fetch and Catch - which are variations of games which use a soft, lightweight object such as a Koosh ball or soft stuffed toy. Either you or the bird tosses it and the other one catches it. Place birdy items in a drawer the bird can get into. Like your clean sock drawer. Hide surprises in the drawer like walnuts and new foot toys and let the birdy find them. A box may be substituted. Pick up - the bird tosses something off and you either laugh or say, "Uh Oh" and pick up the item over and over and over. Blink. You blink, they blink. "I can do that too" game. The bird does something like stretch and you imitate him and then you do something like raise your arm and see if he will learn to imitate you. Make a Mess games. Some parrots love to shred and tear paper. Get some tissue paper for both of you. Rip yours and play with your bird. "Horsey is gonna get you," Tap your nails on the surface and walk your fingers toward the bird saying the above and tickle their tummy or chest. Foot play, a wonderful game you can do together. The bird offers its foot and you shake and set it back and try to teach the bird different things to do with the foot like wave and kiss the footie. Take your pick Trish

goldn1
Dorian's favorite game is fetch....we got her a flexible plastic ball with all kinds of holes through it (it's a dog toy), she can grab it anywhere easily and tosses it. Her favorite part is to hold it until you turn your back and then throw it as far away from you as she can. She'll even throw it from inside the cage, which is how we "tricked" her in to letting us put our hands in the cage....she wants us to play and doesn't want to move an inch to get the ball herself....lol. We've also started dancing.....I bob my head and say "wanna dance? let's boogie" and she bobs right along with me....I look ridiculous but she is hilarious doing it! Oh, the other one, which she doesn't seem to like much, is where we play like we're gonna get her tail, she doesn't get mean about it, but she's not letting us touch her tail either...lol. Mistyparrot
If you can whistle, copy your parrots tunes back to him. My Misty loves this. He will whistle a short phrase and looks at me to whistle back. He then changes the tune slightly and listens for my reply. This can go on for some time. He also plays the "Drop"game. He will drop a small fruit like a lichee off the edge of the table and then says "dropped orange"or "dropped cabbage".He then looks at me expecting I will pick it up. Another is the "Tickle Game". When he wants a tickle he will say "Yourallright" or "Tickel tickel" and lower his head. When I stop he will repeat the phrase and I start over. He will not permit tickles except on his own terms.

Post edited by: Mistyparrot, at: 2008/05/17 16:
