I just caught a Ringneck parakeet. It was sitting on the top of my outdoor cage looking at my two sun conures. It appears healthy, but nervous. Is it OK to put it in with the conures? They all seem to be mellow with each other and I won't do it until I am sure the parakeet is healthy. Any advice is appreciated.

Wow That is one very lucky bird. You need to keep the ring neck quarantined for at least a month if not 2. And you will need to get it vet checked. Do you think you might find the owner? Some one is probably missing their baby!

As siobhan said, perhaps someone is missing there bird,i should imagine it has escaped from somewhere.check to see if any flyer's suddenly go up in local shops & trees !

It will need to be kept away from your conures in quarantine for at least 4/ 6 weeks, just as a precautionary measure. Then i would house it separate from your birds.

Like the others said you will have to keep it from your other birds and do look around and see if someone is missing a ringneck parakeet, it obviously belonged to someone and escaped.

Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you.:)

Sunny,

I own an Alexandrine which is related to the Ringneck . Quarentine as the others suggested . These birds do not mix well with other species , they might at first but after an adjustment period can become very cage protective and do some damage with the other birds. They love to chew on wood and love seeds along with veggies.

I will look on the 911 parrot group and see about a lost RN.
