Amber
Tuki has a bowl of complete extruded diet in one bowl as I know it has everything she needs in it. I used to feed her 'Kaytee exact rainbow', but have recently changed to 'Harison's high potency coarse' as it is organic and has no colourings in and I also read that greys do best on a high potency diet all year round as they have higher nutritional needs. She really seems to enjoy this food! I know some people only feed the extruded diet, but I also give Tuki another bowl of 'Tropimix' for large parrots which contains grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes and tropican pellets. She also has fresh fruits and vegetables everyday and of course fresh water. Is it better to just feed a good quality extruded diet and forget the other food? Don't the parrots get bored of the same thing all the time? I want her to have the best quality food I can buy and have looked around and found these to be the best ones. What do other people think? Please help!

judygram
I would not feed an exclusive extruded pellet mix, they need the variety of the veggies, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes and some table foods we share with them. Even though it may say 100% nutrition for them it is not meant to be to the exclusion of everything else.
lovemyGreys
Im with Judy, pellets do provide for a greys needs, but imagine eating the same diet day in day out ! Boring, continue to offer a wide variety fruit, veggies, pulses etc...Please have a look around the bird food room ,you will find some useful threads in there
Amber
Thank you. I thought it would be very boring to eat the same thing all the time, that's why I give her lots of different things. She loves grapes and gets angry when I don't give her more even if she's had some! I can't give her many, so I have to hide them! Her food contains some dry pulses, but I'd never thought of soaking them, that's a great idea, they must be so much more tasty that way!
lovemyGreys
Hi Amber, you can buy all ready packaged bags of pulses for soaking or make up your own, here is a link worth a read ... http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/72459-a-word-of-warning.html
