Tari
I know something like this may of been done before but we have new members and I don't want to dig it up. And I know we always touch on this in many of the post but how about we do it again for the new people for people thinking of getting a grey. lol Anyways here is my Que a TAG. My Que is very much her own bird. She prefers to be left alone in the cage or on the play gym. The only toy she really plays with is her jolly ball. But think it is more mating behavior. She gets in it and chews on the ropes and digs. She has yet to lay an egg so I well let her keep it as long as it is not a problem. She likes to watch. If I am in the living room near the cage, reading a book or working on some crochet she gets as close as she can and really checks out what I am doing. She well even come out of the cage with no fuss at these times to watch me. When she is out on her play stand she tends to watch the dogs or the fish tanks which ever is closest. Really hard. She looks like she is thinking. "What is that and how does it fit in my world?" She has only spoken to me a couple times but she does talk just when she is alone in the cage and thinks I am not around. My newest bird Topaz talks a lot and Que seems to talk more often now with her around but not much. She is not a morning bird but prefers her out of cage time to be in the evening. Which is a little harder to manage cause that is when hubby is home and he walks around the house like he owns the place (oh wait he does. lol) never checking to see where anyone/pet is. So I have to wait till he settles down so she does not get out as often as I would like but she seems happy with the arrangement. Que rarely gets excited but once or twice a week she well hang from the top of the cage flap her wings and scream at the top of her lungs. Even after all these years she well fall from the perch from time to time. Mostly at night. Sometimes this happens when she is tring to climb around on the jolly ball. Its round and not aways a place to grab. She well let me know real quick if she does not want out of her cage. She well grab my finger in her beak and push away. If I persist she well grab harder and push harder. lol I am a smart human and don't push it. She likes to try whatever I am eating. She don't always like it and well let me know by slinging it as far as she can. She is a great bird despite it all. lol So human like with moods swings, likes and dislikes. Yes it is like having a four year old forever. Cause they never grow up. But that is part of her charm.
siobha9
Great idea Tari, that deserves some karma! Liath, my grey, is an inquisitive bird. She wants to be involved in everything I do, and is scared of nothing. She loves new toys, new food, new places, but hates new people. Liath talks most of the day, about nothing and everything. She talks to me when I am in the room, and shouts after me when I am not. Liath is fully flighted and flies around the house to find me. Liath loves my husbands grey Oisin, but Oisin doesnt love Liath. Until last week Liath has been very cooperative with me, going where I want to go, when I want to go there. She steps up without fuss, and always seems to be excited to see what we are doing next. Liath loves her showers, and her cuddles. Her 2 favourite phrases are Do you want to step up? and Do you want a cuddle? which pretty much sums up her personality. Liath is almost 2 and is beginning to get a bit grouchy in the evenings. I am really hoping this is only temporary Next to my husband and children, Liath is the best thing that has ever happened to me and I love her dearly. siobha9
Well you will just have to give us an update in a month or 2 when you get to know your baby! I love hearing about other peoples greys. For birds that look so similar they are so very different from each other arent they? But they all have their own endearing qualities!
LunaBaby
Great idea! My Luna is by far the best thing that's happened to me. She is a year old and the most playful energetic bird I have ever seen. Sometimes I think she's a bat instead of a parrot because she spends most of her time hanging from the top of the cage attacking her toys and swinging back and forth. At night she's a little cuddle bug and I love those times because she tucks her head under my chin (makes me melt). She's a little hesitant with new people but she'll usually step up. It's funny though because the new person holding her cant move forward at all or else Luna will lean back, sometimes hanging upside down off thier hands to get away! It's pretty funny, you'd think the person had cooties. She will eat anything I give her except dried fruit. Otherwise she's a garbage disposal! I LOVE LOVE LOVE her! greenwinged
Chad, the beat way I can explain he, is that he like an old man. He just sit back and watches all the other bird and even where birds done doing whatever, playing, eating, ect... He'll do it! He dosen't like pon the play gym wtith all the other bird but he go at it in hia cage, he a big talker, he favorite word is "sorry" and will go on anyone shoulder but will bite you finger before you can blink. But he a good bird an never leaves blood. Chud will only cuddle with my dad, will I can pet his head for a bit! He can eat a peanut in a second flat and it pretty cool to watch him do it. If he not on his cage or the play gym he step up fine. IF he on either of those two thing he will play bite you finger and something he can get you good! but most of the time he stop and start laughting! All in all he a great and loved bird:cheer: Post edited by: greenwinged, at: 2008/04/08 00:51

Post edited by: greenwinged, at: 2008/04/08 00:
