Well, my MBS flaired up again and I got another set of finches. Yesterday I picked up a pair of Society Finches. One is a Chocolate Self Pied, and the other is the same but he's got the hairdo like the Gloster Canaries have. I'll post pics as soon as they have settled in.

Well whats another couple of finches when you have so many, I used to have a couple of those society finches, prolific little suckers, they were always laying eggs and raising little ones and I used to give them away to family members.:P

Enjoy your little finches Berna:)

Geez...Well, the two I got the other day ended up being two females (no way to visually sex) and I didn't have the heart to take one back to swap out with a male. You should have seen how these finches were acting when I placed them in the large flight cage with the plants and astro-turf bottom. Both of them wouldn't fly around, but stayed on the sides, it's like they have been in tiny little cages their whole lives. Well, long story short I spent all day sexing the birds at the store and brought home two males so now I have two sets of Society finches.

They aren't as popular as budgies, but once your bit by the finch bug it never seems to leave. I have customers that come in all the time and they are always getting new finches. The cheaper birds are always the better sellers because when people see a price tag of $289.99 for a pair of Owls or Gouldians they say "Yeah, right!" and walk away, but the Zebra and Society finches are the low end so we tend to sell more of them.
