yeah, my grey preens an awful lot, and then when she gets bored preening herself, she preens my har and ear lol :laugh: has been said that greys are vain, especially like their own reflection haha

Birds are supposed to preen a lot. They spend most of their day preening their feathers. Their feathers are very important to them and they have to keep them in tip top shape 24/7. If the bird didn't preen himself, then you should worry.

I'm with Tracy, all parrots need to preen a lot...their feathers are very important to them. I have noticed too that greys preen a little more than others, so you got nothing to worry about.

Dayo Preens more now than ever. This is directly attributable to the molting taking place and that internal natural drive to help the old feathers out, strip the sheaths off the new feathers and scratch that VERY IRRATATED Body area. :-)

 

It sounds like others Greys preen much more than Dayo. He only preens when he gets bored, fluffs up and settles in one spot for a siesta. ;) B)
