Knight05
So I'm a new parrot owner for those who don't know I have a CAG. And I want to experiment with new and diff bird foods. The seed I'm using now is "Tropix seed company made Supreme parrot seed w/ fruit" He seems to like it (notice I say he half the time and she the other, don't know the sex for another 5 days). I'm also using pomogranite seeds for a "treat" for training purposes since she isn't the best at step-up yet. I see her eating the seeds like all day everyday so she obviously enjoys it but not sure what else is out there that others are using? I'm all for sticking with what works but figured trying something new just to be different is cool too. And since it's a baby and he is still growing a little it wouldn't hurt to feed him the equivelant of like puppy chow? Some super protein parrot food to beef them up some or really make them shine? I think you all know what I'm asking even though my comments are all over the place and random
judygram
I use a premium seed mix from www.drsfostersmith.com for parrots that has a little dried fruit in it, Josey seems to like it, but that is not all you should be feeding your baby. He/she needs veggies, fruits, nuts, grains and legumes with a little meat in their diet for proper nutrition. This link is a complete list of veggies and fruits you can feed but go thru the bird food room for lots of threads that give ideas for foods to give your grey. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/bird-food/59809-complete-veggiefruit-list.html Pellets are also needed and I highly recommend the Harrison's High Potency for the best nutritional value. Hope this is what you wanted, if not just ask and I will try to help you further.

lovemyGreys
Beat me to it judy Judy has offered some great advice, introduce your grey to as many different foods while he/she is still young. They are more willing to investigate new foods at an early age as opposed to when they are older.Greys are hungriest in the mornings after their night of sleeping this is a good time to introduce new foods. dblhelix
I use and really like "Leach Hookbill" seed mix. It has all kinds of goodies, dried fruit, star anise, safflower, papaya, peanuts, almonds, cocunut flakes, cinnamon sticks, peas, carrots and I am sure other good stuff I am forgetting. Kip really likes it. She always has access to that and gets a big bowl of fresh stuff every day plus harrisons pellets. I believe that with a good and varied diets a good seed mix offered is a must... B)
lovemyGreys
Yes Mark i agree seed plays an important roll in their diet,it is a natural behaviour for them to crack seed, well they dont have pellets to hand in the wild do they ?
Fletcher
Ive been havin a lot of fun doing different foods and eating a little healther myself.I use a combination of Tropimix hulled seeds and nuts and vegetables.and some Harrisons hi pro.He also likes broccoli stems, apples ,peas, peanut butter on wheat bread well its probally alot easier to say what he doesnt like, huh Nothing. Hes pretty much a eating machine, plus i still handfeed him his formula at night before he gets his snack.Oh yea he likes some finger thrown in.I dont use any meats or eggs but i see some do, personally Iam trying to rid my own diet of those two things.Bottom line is Fletcher will eat anything you put in front of him,did i mention fingers so i just try an make sure its the best..
