judygram
So over the weekend I traveled to Mineral Wells, WV to visit my son and his family, about a 4+ hour trip and I took both Josey and Sunny with me. I don't usually take Sunny with me but my daughter could not keep her for me so along with me she went. Now Josey is getting old hat at riding with us, she sits on her perch, I position it low in the travel cage, and plays and even started chatting some on the ride. But poor Sunny wouldn't sit on her perch, she clung to the side of her travel cage the whole time, she was fine after she got to our destination but the ride was a little stressful for her I think. Poor baby, hopefully I can leave her at home the next time for my daughter to take care of but Josey will definately be going, she rides well and enjoys being with me going places and I loved having her along. lovemyGreys
Poor sunny, hope she recovered from the drive Judy. They are all different just like us a birdy form of travel sickness. Some enjoy the journey & the motion of the car ride others just dont like it.Fingers crossed she can stay home next time
judygram
She did Tracy but it kinda broke my heart to see her clinging to the side of the cage while Josey sat on her perch and did just fine, she is an old pro now at riding.

judygram
Don't cry Tracy, you will make me cry too and you don't want that. Yep she will stay home the next time but if I do have to take her on a trip again I may cover her slightly so the scenery passing by won't bother her that is if it did. B)

MommaFawkes
Judy, are you sure it was stress? My conures like the car and when in their travel cages all cling to the side instead of a perch. I know they are relaxed because they are not screaming and they act normal. They like to cling on the bar and look out the window a bit:) maybe this is what sunny was doing too? judygram
Maybe so Tiffani, it was the first real road trip she has been on, the other trips were short ones, maybe a half hour long. She only screamed a couple of times but then that is normal for her, otherwise she was fine. Thanks Tiffani for your insight as you have done this before and know yours act the same way. BMustee
Yeah, Otto always clung to the sides when he was in the carrier. I hae Elmo harness trained so I let him sit on my shoulder if the traffic is light and it's a short trip and he loves to bark at the other cars and watch the world go by. Awhile back I took him to the vet and I had him in the carrier so on the way back I opened the carrier to let him out because he seemed to be a bit mad at me. The door was wide open and I kept sayin' "come on out Elmo!" He stuck his head out, grabbed the door, and shut it!!!! I could not believe my eyes! One of the funniest things he has ever done. judygram
OMG, he didn't want to come out, what a hoot that must have been Berna, thanks for sharing that little tidbit with us. LOL, I thought that because she was clinging to the side of the carrier that she was stressed out but I guess she was just fine because after we got to our destination she was herself. Silly ole me.:silly:

BMustee
The people in the cars next to me must have thought I was crazy because I was laughing so hard when he did that!:woohoo: With Suns I would think they were stressed if they were huddled in the corner of the carrier. They seem to like to cling to things.
judygram
Well you are right on that part, my sun does like to cling to things, mainly me and it does not matter what I do she hangs on thru it all.
