Lightstone Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I have to share. I bought three baby Timneh greys from a friend for hand raising. The oldest is starting to pin on the wings and there are some feathers popping on the wings and tail. In a book called A guide to Parrots as Pet an Aviary birds a mutation is listed, but only for a Congo as A White-Tailed (Blue). Yes, the oldest is going to have a White tail or some white in its tail. I cannnot keep all three, if they are all the same, but definitely I will be keeping one of them. I have informed the breeder.
judygram Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I would keep one too if I was you, what a treat that will be to have one of those mutations. We have a couple of threads that have some mutations in them, I will share the link for one here: http://www.greyforums.net/forums/african-grey/60115-african-grey-mutations.html Why don't you introduce yourself in the welcome room and tell us a little more about you.
lovemyGreys Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 I'm pretty sure you cant breeed for a white tail, they have a gene missing, caretinoid that gives the red/maroon tail, but still very pretty
