osumegs
Recently Lucy has been biting me...she does beautifully with step up. I go to a different room and work with her...a "neutral room". I have been practicing walking away from the perch b/c i've found that this is where we have trouble when she gets down from the cage and i start to walk with her. She gets flat feathered and kind of wide eyed and i'm assuming she gets fearful and so she bites me for being there and taking her away and walking???? I'm so confused as to how to get the biting to stop...if I move my fingers the slightest when she's on them...she attacks them...she hates my thumb especially. I've tried not reacting but when she just grinds and knaws on it...it hurts like CRAZY! HELP ME! Not sure what to do from here....ugh.....ps....my welcome post gives a little background on Lucy and I if you would like to know more. Shamelessmuse
The one thing that worked quickly with Greyce was gently pushing toward her when she bit. Also, when walking toward her don't walk head on, try and walk up at an angle...always make sure you aren't looking her dead in the eye - face forward. Unless she is about to nail you, then a stern look and a stern "are you going to be a big girl", followed by a joyful "Good Bird!" when she diverts biting. Also, always try and catch her eye before she bites when you are holding her, this will often divert. Also the "are you going to be a good bird?" followed by "GOOD BIRD!" joyfully when she is diverted.
