Change CAG name

can one change a name of an aged parrot? 1-2 years.

 

how easy is that .... you might adopt a nice parrot but has a name you don't like! what to do?

 

if someone has an opinion/previous experience ... then we want to hear from you.

I would think you could, just don't say the old name anymore and just use the new one, in time it will recognize it's new name since the bird is just 1 to 2 years old. Now if the bird is older it may be more of a problem, anyone else with an opinion.:huh:

I have re named a 2 year old grey & a 5 year old grey,just use the new name constantly,my coco was saying her name within weeks,dont be to upset if the bird already says their old name they may say it along with a new name but i believe if they know their name they wont forget it

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would add to it!! LOL! I changed Fawkes' name from Sassy(I thought it was terrible for such a sweetie) to Fawkes and no she has not said her new name yet, she still says Sassy. But we also still say sassy sometimes, kind of use it like her knickname. I think in time she will pick up Fawkes, though Im a little worried it will sound like the F word:blink: But she will know what she means and so will we!!

I don't have to change his name, I have a new baby with no name so far. we are still choosing names for him.
