A major breakthrough?

Ok I think what happened last night was a major thing, but not really sure? I have been trying now for the last couple of weeks like everyone advised to take SweetHeart over to my chair or wherever I was sitting and basically make her sit there, cause all the other things I have tried these past few months just seemed to not be working. So when she flew off I would go get her and than come back and have her sit with me again.

Well last night, I had her sitting there and was able to pet her and than told her to come here and patted my leg, (we were on the couch) and she came over, climbed up and than climbed up to my shoulder and sat there and my hair was down and this is a major thing for her cause she hates my hair down, and she was grooming it and playing with it. Than she looked a little antsy after about 5 minutes so I wanted it to be my idea and I put her back on her play top.

Does this sound like a good thing? Or is the grooming and what I thought playing with my hair a bad thing? I don't know the good signs to look for? I thought though that her coming to me on her own instead of running the other direction was HUGE! I'm soo happy! I had to share! It's been what seems like a long time! I know it has only been 4 months but that's 4 months I couldn't barely touch her! Hope to hear from ya'll! If it weren't from the support I got here I may have given up a long time ago! Thank you!

Rhonda - I think that's HUGE! What a great feeling for you! Also, i think it's good that you recognized she was getting a bit antsy and put her on her playstand. That didn't give her a chance to do something like nip or head-butt or screech in your ear to let you know she wanted to do something else (which would have then been reinforced when you put her back on the playstand afterwards). I think it was a big step in her showing an increased level of trust.

Congrats!

This has been a long time coming but you are making progress Ronda and you did the right thing in putting her back when she got antsy. She has been slow to warm up to you but I think it will only get better from now on. That is so sweet when they groom your hair.

See your patience has started to pay off and I am sure we will be hearing more and more of these little accomplishments now that she is beginning to trust you, you go girl!!!:P
