Bailey
Sarg has a purple band but I can't figure it out at all. I have looked online and nothing that comes close to discribing what it says. Its nothing fancy just letters and numbers. If you all need I can post the letters/numbers just let me know.
Woody6
The band / letter number combo tends to be related to the actual breeder that bred the bird.
KatB
I found this site, don't know how helpful it will be to you: http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww5eiii.htm The following links are to some banding databases. http://www.ncbirdlegband.info/ http://www.pamperedpeeps.com/bandsbreeders.htm It appears these registries are voluntary so they aren't complete. I was unable to find Oliver's band number or breeder code there. There's another, more promising, link that's pasted all over the internet but which appears to be dead. Maybe that's just a temporary condition, though. It's http://buddysfriends.com/registry.html I hope this helps.
Tari
Do not post your letters and numbers anywhere. If you like you can post the letters and someone might know the aviary but do not post the numbers. That band is the only sure way to be able to ID your bird so only you should know the bands numbers. However I must tell you the bands I use are from the AFA so they have AFA on them but I think they have a record of who buys the bands.
Bailey
Thanks for the advice everyone. I wasn't aware of the band thing.
lovemyGreys
yes the numbers & letters are identification for that particular bird Kitty as Tari said
Bailey
That part I know hun I am just having a hard time trying to figure out if that is the date of birth on his band. I can't find any bands online like it so I can't even begin to trace where Sarg came from. I would like to find out his past. The guy who previously had him told me little to nothing about him. Thanks though for the info ~hugs~
Woody6
my band is letters followed by numbers and from what I was told the letters mean the breader and the numbers mean the 'number' hatched. that may be just for my band though. not sure. KatB
I think it can mean different things depending on the breeder. Oliver's band, for instance, is 3 letters, followed by a symbol and then 4 numbers. The numbers can't possibly be a year or any format of date, so I have to assume his is just a sequential number of some sort. On the other hand, I'm sure some breeders do include a form of the date...
Tari
Very few breeders use hatch dates. It would just be to hard to order bands and get them on time to put on the bird. Some well use the year. They order at the start of the year. I don't breed enough birds to do that. I order a few and then when I am about out I order a few more. May not order for AFA next time either since I did not renew my membership. Money is to tight so had to pick a couple memberships to renew only in stead of the five I usually have. lol So going for my local bird club. and Quaker Parrot Society. Bailey
Yes I get that part I am just trying to figure out where the band came from and if there is a data base so I could find the breeder he came from when he was hatched. Thanks though for all the replys
Tari
No data bass that I know of. Bands are so you can ID and so that breeders can keep records so they don't inbreed.

perfectpeter
on our babies we ring, it starts with K&B then a number, then 08 , the K&b stands for kev and brooke (which is us) then the number is the number of chick and the 08 stands for 2008, here in the UK you can pick what you like on your band
