ak1
is it law that all greys have papers and to have a ring?
Dave007
no to the first inquery and only birds that are sold in pet shops to second inquery. Any other banding is voluntery. Bands were used on imported birds but importation is now against the law.
Woody6
If you mean permits (papers) they are only required in the States that say you have to have them. I have permits for my two greys because it is required by the state of NJ. PA individuals do not have to have permits. I did not know that bands are a pet shop thing. scrohan
In Florida, its up to the breeder if they want to band the bird. There is what is called a hatch certificate, but I think that was not a requirement, but just something the breeder liked to do. The band just has the breeder's identification number on it. There are no actual papers to register the bird as far as I know.
Hannah_Rae
Good question. I was wondering the same thing myself. Countdown: Tomorrow's the big day...YAY!!!
BMustee
I think the band thing is also up to the state as well. We sell birds at my store that do not have bands. Most of them do but a few of our breeders just don't like to put them on (which is fine with me).
lovemyGreys
In the UK some breeders ring their greys others dont, the majority of breeders will supply a hatch certificate.
danmcq
It looks like it is a state or country law item. This is a good question and enlightens the rest of us as we see the responses from members in other locations. In California, papers or rings are not a requirement. Congratulations Hannah, I'll bet you won't get much sleep tonight!! :-)
