ScubaJ Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Being new to parrots and all and reading how they are lactose intolerant and cannot have more then a bit of cheese. Anything wrong with Organic Lactose-Free String Cheese? Still in small quantities that is since it is still a little too fatty. But other then that anything I should be aware of? Haven't fed it to her yet but am curious. Thanks.
judygram Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I would suggest you could feed it in small quantities just like regular cheese, I would read the label to see what exactly is in it, but moderation is key here.
ScubaJ Posted January 12, 2008 Author Posted January 12, 2008 Yes, indeed, always in moderation. I didn't get a chance to look at the ingredients heavily, at first glance I didn't see any red flags. Being Organic makes me slightly better about trying it.
lovemyGreys Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Yes cheese is fine in moderation, i usually give mine a little chunk once a week as a treat as they do love it .I would think that organic would be even better
Bertbert Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 I give my grey some organic soy cheese every now and then and he LOVES it! I don't feed him a lot of it though because it is still high in fat, at the same time though it has a high amount of calcium in it!
magicalem Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 hmmmmm looked for this but cannot seem to find any any ideas.. fellow UK owners...? xxx
lovemyGreys Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 The majority of uk supermarkets do organic cheese, but you would have to read the labelling to check normal chedder cheese is fine, mine a small cube once a week as a treat or grated over some pasta
