Guest
other than the area of african which the wild caught birds came from originally. In America though, it seems that some breeders label their african greys congo or cameroon to make it sound like they have something special and con the unwary out of more money. That doesn`t happen over here.

jdolezar
WE can`t tell yo where to get a "Cameroon" because no such bird exists. The "Cameroon" name was created by an unethical dealer in Hollywood, Florida to mislead inexperienced buyers into believing that she was the only dealer of a "rare species" in the US. In truth, she purchased the (legally) imported birds from whichever importer had the lowest price. None of the importers got their birds in the nation of Cameroon at that time....but she charged a premium price for her birds (originating mostly from Togo and the Ivory Coast) anyhow. The price at the time for Congos was about $700.00 per pair, but she charged her customers about $1200.00 per pair of the same birds. She was aided in her deception at the time by BIRDTALK magazine who allowed her to advertise the phoney bird species. The magazine staff also fell for the scam, and they actually started reffered to the "new Species" as a bonified subspecies (hardly the first or last time that BIRDTALK published incorrect data) Anyhow, if someone tries to sell you a "Cameroon", go elsewhere rather than be ripped-off... 9-11 -- Never forget Never forgive Never again
