8 week old African Grey

Morning all

My African Grey is 8 weeks old now - from 5 weeeks old.

Feeding her 3 times a day, and I have placed fruit around the cage. She does not seem to be eating as much as 2 weeks ago (hand feeding). She has already climbed onto the 3rd rung of her ladder, exploring everything. She looks like a fully grown african Grey where 2 weeks ago she could not even climb out of her box.

The pet shop owner gave me a bag of food for hand rearing parrots, he did say it would last 2 months. It has only lasted me 2 weeks. My baby Nikita has grown sooo much.

Shaun777,

Hello and welcome to the family. At 8 weeks your baby should decrease a little on the hand fed food. His crop will shrink as time goes by. You have about 4 to 8 weeks before he is fully weaned. His appitite for hand fed food will decrease as time goes by.

Good luck with your new baby!!!!!

Thanks for the update on your baby grey shaun.

She sounds like she is progressing normally and is starting to become more bold in her exploration and coordination building efforts. :-)

We'll look forward to hearing more of her progress and seeing some photos when you get a chance.
