My bird has a defective claw that has curled in on itself. Because of a failed attempt to cut it the bird is very aware and nervous of my intensions and can see a pair of cutters a mile off.. How do i now best restrain the bird to cut the claw. Would putting a hood over its head have tha same effect as in a Kestral or Hawk or should i get a friend with a small towel to hold the bird. It all sounds rather stressfull, does anyone have a way out. The claw must be cut as he is getting his leg caught up with cage toys because the curl act as a locking hook Philip Jones

expensive, and they can check it to make sure there isn`t any lasting problem. If you haven`t been to the vet for a while, it`d be a good excuse for a checkup at the same time.

BTW, both of our vets use a towel as a restraint. (but very carefully)

broken wing or suffocate. It would be a simple and cheap thing for a vet to do but only as long as it is an avian vet not a cat and dog vet who are mostly afraid of birds and are unable to handle them properly.
