kelly Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 hi can anyone give me any ideas on how to stop zak sitting on my head ,the lady i bought him from always lets her babies sit on her head and yes he loves it although me and my partner hate it. im at a loss his nails dig in and i wouldnt normally mind but i suffer with eczima on my scalp and he irritates it so other than all of us sit in the house with caps on is there anything we can do .ive tried been persistant with him in taking him off anyones head but its not working hes very stubborn HELP.
judygram Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Kelly the only think I can tell you is you will just have to remove him from your or anyone else's head whenever he tries to sit there. And since he was allowed to do that at his former home, it will take some time and perhaps hundreds or thousands of times of removing him but persistence will pay off and he will learn that he is not to do that anymore. I can understand the digging in part, Josey likes to sit on my shoulder and I have the talon marks all over my shoulder to prove it, you would have thought I had been in a cat fight.
lovemyGreys Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 Hi Kelly Judy is right the only thing you can do is remove him every time & tell him a firm no, perhaps put him on a play stand or return him to his cage for a minute, Repetition & patience is needed here
kelly Posted November 24, 2007 Author Posted November 24, 2007 CHEERS GUYS I THINK AM JUST JHOPING FOR HIM TO CHANGE OVER NIGHT LOL BUT I WILL KEEP ON WITH IT AND SEE HOW WE GO
judygram Posted November 24, 2007 Posted November 24, 2007 It will not be an overnight change by any means, it takes time and lots of patience and persistence, but the rewards are handsome so keep at it, Kelly and keep us informed.
kelly Posted November 25, 2007 Author Posted November 25, 2007 THANX JUDY I WILL KEEP TRYING WITH HIM AND I WILL KEEP YOU ALL INFORMED THANX;)
Guest briansmum Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 yep just keep taking him down, brian loves to try and get on my head.. he has done from the word go and i have never allowed it, yet he still persists. it's just one of those power battles but then need to know your patience is far stronger than their desire.
Laurie Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 Wow, Klaus has never been one to get on anyone's head. He is a shoulder-boy, he was so persistent about that that I gave up and there he sits. But he's never been interested in getting on my head. He does like to "preen" my hair, though, which I think is funny...
Guest briansmum Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 yeah laurie brian has taken to preening my hair, i'm just scared he'll get some stuck in his throat so i stop him
