ccilia5767
well, I am not sure if here is the right place to post this one. I have the feeling Churchill nevver seen water, as in he doesnt wash up. I tried a small doll tub in the kitchenm I tried having him go in the sink, he doesnt even splash the water in his dish. I know how important it is for these birds to wash, so yesterday I tried again with grapes to get him to go into the sink. I gave up, took my cloth off, except for my t-shirt and went inside the shower. he stayed on my shoulder the whole time, I showed him the water, started making him wet. at the beginnen I left out the the face. When I saw that he didnt mind I wet his face too. When he was done I put him on top of the shower so I can clean with soap. Now I need suggestions, on how I can get him into the sink because I dont think going with him is a very good option, since I cant get any help from my husband. We tried for him to come get him after he was done but he wouldnt go to him. Every time he comes close Churchill "tells" him to go away. I can do abaut anything with the bird. Any suggestions? siobha9
Does your shower have one of those hand held sprays? I put my greys on the floor of the shower and I spray them that way. I can adjust the water to a temperature they like, and run it really slow for them. I would imagine taking a shower with a grey would be rather cold, (not to mention frightening - I would rather not have any piercings thank you!) Falconeer
I tried the exact same thing with mine. He only goes to the shower with me and stays very calm in there.
ccilia5767
glad to read I am not the only one with this problem. He was very calm and very interested in the water, I was pretty cold but he did enjoy it. Except for the part when I was standing in the bathroos with a wet shirt shiffering (sp?), it was okay. But not something I would want to do every day. In the sink I have one of those pull out fossits. Tried pulling it out for him to wash but he only drank. Wont go inside the sink- and I do have my doubts that he would go in the shower since it is so low. Well, I guees I will have a lot of work training him, until then I just have to suck it up and freeze. lol How often do they have to wash?
jamie777
At the bird store I go to they have a special bird mister with a small hose attachment on it. You pump the bottle and then spray. Very easy to do and a very fine mist that will get him used to it. You can either lightly wet him or totally drench him, it's up to you. This is what I use when I visit my TAG "Romeo". at first he wasn't sure about it but now he loves it. I asked the caregiver how often I should wash him and she said twice a week is good. Wash him in the morning or early afternoon so he has time to dry before bed and no hairdryers. I read when they are drying their little chest quiver to dry them selves. How cute. Hope this helps as I am to learning. -Jamie If there is something I missed please add to it.
