Hello, Looking for help

Hello Everyone,

 

A little background.

 

My family and I just moved from NYC to Bali a little over a month ago. When we moved my wife had to leave her Goffins Cockatoo which she had for 29 years, she raised him from an egg. We are having a great deal of difficulty getting solid information about transporting him here, at the moment her is living with my wife mother.

 

Moving on for the sad story. When My wife was little she rescued an African Grey and had the bird for a number of years before he passed away.

So here we are a few decades later, in search of a baby African Grey. I am having difficulty finding honorable upstanding breeders in Indonesia. Do any of you know of any breeders? Do any of you know if you can import birds from outside of Indonesia legally?

Hello Jcrowsom. It must have been very hard on your wife to leave her long time companion, even to move to such a beautiful place. Here is a resource that you may find helpful about the steps necessary to bring your 'too to Bali. Am not sure how to find reputable breeders in Bali for a grey, though. Indonesia is loosing so many birds to the local pet trade, it seems 70 to 80% of homes have birds as pets there.

Wow that is one heck of a move...NYC to Bali, must be nice. You guys expats now or something? Anyway, you should check out birdbreeder.com, I know they ship but do not know if international shipping would be ethical or safe for the bird. If I were you...I would look around the village farm lands. Those guys usually have birds from what I remember and they may be willing to work with you.
