It is especially visible when said feathers get wet. Is that what you are referring to? I also know there are mutations present in some greys...like white tail instead of red or red feathers instead of grey, etc...but I don't remember any mutations with blue. Your picture isn't big enough to see what's going on there but it doesn't look normal to me. Maybe it's just the way baby is hold that one wing. The man I got my bird from, has baby birds that he hand feeds at his store. We purchased him when he was only a few weeks old and have been to the store to LEARN how to feed him before taking him home. He is now on 2 feeding a day and is doing perfectly fine. I read through each and every post in this thread and cannot understand what was so judgemental. I'm sorry but OPs defensive/paranoid responses shows me that social skills are lacking. judygram Posted June 5, 2016 Share Posted June 5, 2016 I think Sterling feels the same as I do that 2 months is too young to be brought home by someone with no handfeeding experience. I think I speak as most here would especially our grey expert, Dave007, that handfeeding is best left to those who know how to do it, so much can go wrong and personally I wish it were a law that the bird had to be fully weaned before it could be sold but that's all water over the dam now. We are very passionate here about our greys and that can be interpreted as judgemental at times but we all want the same thing, to care for our beloved companions and give them the best we can give for they deserve it. We ARE here to help you in any way we can and it does seem you are getting advice from the store on handfeeding, hopefully Dave will be along soon to add to the advice. I have to agree with Charlies Dad that the feathers can seem purplish when wet but they all are different just as they all are individuals. BTW, hello and welcome to our family.
