Lullx
Oh man, I haven't been on a forum in a few years, so please bear with me. My name is Britt. I'm twenty-two, from CNY and relatively new to flock life. I got my first bird about a year and a half ago, and today I have three budgies, a lutino cockatiel and two green cheek conures (one conure is a rescue). My flock has grown quickly, but I feel like I've found my calling in life. Nothing has ever made me feel so happy and so complete. I'm disabled and unable to work, so my flock has truly become my world. I'm home all day with them and they've been helping me not only to cope, but have improved my quality of life. I post about them regularly on Instagram (my username there is also lullx). I'm getting a congo african grey this summer. My little one was born on Valentine's Day, and is still being weaned at the aviary (: I get to meet him for the first time next weekend! I've been busy preparing for his or her arrival. I decided to join this forum now so I can get a bit of a running start. I know that greys are in a league of their own, and I want to do what I can to give mine the best life possible. I've done so much research online about greys (and plenty of other species) before deciding that a grey was right for me, but I love talking to other flock leaders and getting firsthand feedback. So here I am! I look forward to meeting new people and becoming the best bird mom I can be.

BaileysPapa
Welcome to our world. There are many friendly, knowledgeable, experienced, and helpful people here. Many of us also have mixed flocks.
SRSeedBurners
Welcome. Know what you mean when you say you found your calling/feel complete. If you're a bird person they can have that affect on you. I love little green cheeks even though I don't have one anymore. They're special little orneries.
Lullx
Thank you all so much for the welcomes! I'd been lurking this site for a few weeks and finally decided to sign up. I call my green cheeks Gremlins. My girl Genevieve is my baby, and she's always keeping me on my toes. I believe she's helped prepare me for life with a larger bird. I feel guilty for getting a baby grey instead of adopting, but my other conure, Phaedrus, is a rescue and I'm just not comfortable with bringing that sort of energy into my home again right now. I've done a lot of deliberating and decided that a baby fits best with my situation.

Lullx
Thank you! I'm so incredibly excited about my new baby. I'll be posting pictures here and on IG when I go to meet him, and any that the aviary posts. I do indeed have names all picked out. If it's a boy, I'll be naming him Versailles. Nickname being Sai, I think. If a girl, she'll be Nephele, the Greek cloud nymph (: Nickname for her will be Fell.
robopetz
Adorable! Do you know which is your baby yet?
Lullx
Not entirely sure yet, but I'm assuming the one on the right. That's the younger one, and I believe I'm second in line. Though the people who claimed a baby first may get a say in which one they want. I won't really know for sure until next weekend.
