Training treats?

Hi all,

 

Wanted to know what is your grey's fav treats to eat? I would like to prepare so when its time to train baby Beemo I will know what type of treats to try. I do want to stay away from seeds as much as possible. I was thinking of Lafeber pellet/veggies/fruits treats?....

Timber is partial to pine nuts. Grey's are individuals that way, what one likes another may not. Nutriberries are a good treat (in my opinion) but for training I would think you would need something small. I know some use sunflower seeds.

I see. I guess I will have to get a variety and see what Beemo chooses huh, lol. He does like dried papaya so far. As soon as he's weaned I want to start training him.

Just focus on what your baby loves! I never used any treats to train Sophie. Many of us train our birds differently. Nancy

What about slivers of almonds, or walnut pieces?

My greys love pistachios. I do not give them treats for tricks, I just ask. My TAG loves to shake hand to foot and comes when I call her, if she wants to come that is. My CAG easily comes for food with just a call and loves to sing when I sing. I believe that they do these things because they just like to interact with me.

I use almond pieces. Small pieces for basic training but 1/2 an almond for going back into the cage on command! This way my Peanut gets the almond that I think they need.
