TalonSis
Here's some pictures from the Pet Expo me and my mom went to. It was alot of fun, and I got a lot of pictures with my big lens. Everyone kept commenting on what a big lens it was. A lady did suggest I take pictures for cat shows(she was selling cat related stuff) and I could make alot of money that way. Anyways, here's the pictures!(Some of these first set are blurry because they werent on the shutter speed mode, but I didnt want to take a ton of pictures without looking at them, and realize that they all came out super dark, cause the lighting wasn't the best.) First, we watched this dog agility thing. At first the guy was doing trick frisbee catching, but I didnt get any pictures of that. Then he came back out with a bunch of dogs in a large box, and they lined up all neatly on this platform. The first thing he did... ...was throw rings, and the dog caught them in on its neck. Then he showed off an army crawl this dog could do. Then did some other tricks. This was one of my favorite tricks he did. The dogs went in a circle through his hands. This was so cute. While he was still in a handstand, he had those two do that, while the other went through. I know this is blurry, but look at that flip! Then he got out his jumprope weave through the cones... This sign said "applause" on the front, and "please" on the back. The end. Up next, jumping dogs! Melissa
CeasarsDad
WONDERFUL photos. I see you have your REAL lens with you this time. :P Good looking photos Melissa. I'm proud of you Kiddo...
TalonSis
This next show, was a competition I guess. The dogs had to run down, jump over the jumps, grab a ball off the platform, then run/jump back. Some of these dogs jumped, landed, then jumped again. It was VERY fast. ^Superdog! Ok, next post, some *much* higher jumping dogs! Melissa
CeasarsDad
You got the shutter speed set just about right. Here you can see that you need the 2.8 f stop those lenses have. Without fast lenses like this you couldn't do this photography. :P
TalonSis
^I think he disapproved of the height. Alright more pictures next post... Melissa
CeasarsDad
Very NICE timing on these shots melissa. It's not easy to time these shots. You did a GREAT job at clicking the shutter at just the right time. ;)
TalonSis
There weren't many birds here, but my mom sure was tempted to take home a sun conure. ^I forget what kind of bird this was, but it sure was pretty! I love the pink. ^The perches you'll see are what likes like camera tripods, with a T perch screwed on. ^In the middle of dancing. ^A miniature horse still more... TalonSis
^Grooming her... ^One of my most favorite shots. Ok that's it. But maybe its just the resizing and such, but alot of them seem blurry, even some of the bird ones. Do you know why? b:huh: And thank you CD! birdgranna
"If I had a million dollars, I'd buy me a monkey" just like that cutie you pictured. I always wanted children, a parrot and a monkey. Got 2 out of three but LOVE that little monkey! Beautiful pictures!

MakenasDad
Great job Melissa - thanks for posting the pictures! Action shots can be difficult, but you did a great job. As for the bird you weren't sure the name of, it's called a rose breasted cockatoo, they are known for a sweet temperament.
Guest briansmum
wow what great pictures of what seemed to be an awesome day! i LOVE all the bird pictures. that man has his dogs very well trained. is this a regular event where you live? Makenasdad is right that is a rose breasted cockatoo which is is also known as a Galah Cockatoo. they are very sweet, i saw some at a zoo not so long ago. one came over to look at me so i talked to it and put my finger near the bars. it put it's head down and let me give it a good scratch. very tame for what were ultimately un humanised birds. it did what i can only assume was a contact call when i left too. unfortunately a "non bird" lady saw me and tried to do the same thing, she was somewhat less gentle and got bitten
nevjoe
As always, you're right on the money Melissa. My friend has one of those Rose breasted Cockatoo. You have to hold your ears because he is so loud. A very high and nasty sound. I stick with my guys. BadKarma
Those are some really cool pix. I need to get a new camera and take some photography classes. I know this is off topic and I am sorry but I need to say this. Birdgranna I wish you the best in getting that million but HIGHLY recommend against the monkey. As someone who has owned and worked with primates I would never suggest one to anyone. They fall on my list of animals that should never be owned by the general public. (and I am the general public) They look all cute and cuddly but believe me that all wears off very fast. They can, and most do, become very agressive when they reach maturity. Also even the smallest species have destructive power that would rival a dozen mexican fighting bulls in the proverbial china closet. They DO NOT make good pets, and are NOT just like little people. There are way more reasons not to own a primate than will ever be to own one. Oh and that million will go in short order once you start caring for one. However that being said if you do ever get that million and still want the monkey shoot me a line and I'll do my best to help in any way I can. Again sorry for getting off topic. And the pix rock.
