Santaeid
I know there are a lot of different kinds and was wondering which to feed. I checked my bird and the vet says he is healthy all around.
SRSeedBurners
Harrison's recommends that African Greys use the 'High Potency'. Some breeds they recommend to shift to the 'Lifetime' formula but certain species are recommended to stay on the High Potency (including Greys). We have found the 'coarse' size leads to a lot of waste. Using the smaller size, 'fine', my other birds can eat it and I don't find big 3/4 and 1/2 size of chunks wasted on the floor. When Greycie cracks a coarse size pellet, most of it goes flying - very wasteful.
JanMarie
I use the Harrison's High Potency FINE...there is no waste....she takes her tongue, touches the little pellet pops it into her mouth and goes back for more. NEVER any crumbs left in her dish.
KimKim
I use high potency course... Never thought about using fine, hmmm...
alex2014
Definitely going to try the fine, Alex eats over his bowl so no waste with the course, but Rocco eats on perch and as you say the first bit drops the rest on the floor. Thanks for the idea.
wps
I've always been confused about using the Harrison's High Potency. Most sources on here recommend to avoid sunflower seeds or limit them but the number one ingredient in the Harrison's is ground sunflower. Why is that ok? Best, Pat I use the Harrison's High Potency FINE...there is no waste....she takes her tongue, touches the little pellet pops it into her mouth and goes back for more. NEVER any crumbs left in her dish.
