Just wanted to say Hi!

Hello everyone. I just discovered this forum. I have a 16 year-old Grey named Roscoe who I've had since he was a few weeks old. I bought him at a bird fair when I was young and dumb. Even got a discount because he was missing a toe. :rolleyes: Somehow we've muddled through. He's helped raise 2 human kids and countless foster dogs. And a few baby cockatiels and a cherry headed conure along the way.

 

I've been around other parrots and I must say a Grey was the best choice for us. He's pretty quiet overall. He makes sounds that are actual sounds, not just parrot screeches. Although he can get pretty carried away with that bell, usually during a really good TV show.

 

I never cease to be amazed at just how smart and astute this bird is. He pays attention to absolutely everything. Knows when to answer the phone, when to say bye. Even makes the sound of my coffee cup setting down on the counter (right before I set it down.) He asks me every morning and every time I'm getting ready to leave if I'm "ready." He yells at the dogs, says hello when I come in, everything I'm sure all of yours do. I'd love to get him a companion but hubby always says no. So I just buy him new cages and toys instead.

 

We've had our ups and downs, he's had his temper tantrums, bitten everyone but me, but we keep on keeping on. I wouldn't trade him for the world.
