This is definitely a "better safe than sorry" thing for me. I avoid onions because of what I've read. Garlic is limited to the small amounts that may be in spaghetti sauce or other cooked foods (when Timber is sharing our dinner).

Here is a page from the Phoenix Landing "Nourish to Flourish" parrot cookbook. I didn't see onions listed, but we don't use onions here so that isn't a worry but garlic is mentioned and used in alot of the recepies.
