Michellec
Are hard boiled eggs ok? I was thinking a half egg with the shell on would be a good food for protein and isn't there calcium in the shell? What about the yolk? Thanks. Michelle
ranaz
Hard boiled eggs are fine but rich in fat as well. I give Pookie a quarter of an egg with shell twice a week, he loves it
Timbersmom
I feed Timber eggs regularly. His favorite are scrambled (nothing added, just the egg which I do in the microwave).
Luvparrots
Scramble eggs in red palm oil with peas and diced carrots. Parrots love them at least once a week.
Michellec
Thank you! I have been putting her red palm oil on her daily dry food and never thought of adding it to scrambled eggs!
Greywings
They enjoy a veggie omelet as well, or make a stir fry with the egg and veggies.
SRSeedBurners
Scramble eggs in red palm oil with peas and diced carrots. Parrots love them at least once a week. For the record, I just stole this idea.

Best is to add the red palm oil after cooking the eggs. You dont wanna heat and hydrogenate this oil.
SRSeedBurners
Greycie hopped right in. - 1 farm raised egg from the hens out back - sprouts (mid bird from Sprout people) - sprouted Quinoa - Red palm oil Scrumptious!
Timbersmom
Neat pic! I haven't tried sprouting quinoa. I do sprout the big bird from sprout people for Timber. Do you do the quinoa separately? If so, how long do you let it go?
SRSeedBurners
Quinoa is unusual in that it will sprout while it soaks. Which probably means I'm soaking too long. I usually soak 8hrs and *maybe* 8 hours rinsed, and I do it separately. Besides feeding the babies with it, I eat it in yogurt. It's good stuff. alex2014
I gave Alex some scrambled eggs last night when I decided to cook myself some for dinner (didn't add anything like salt or pepper until after i had scooped his out). I gave him about a tablespoon and he didn't leave his food bowl until they were gone. Any idea how much i should give him as a serving size? Our avian vet suggested not to exceed 1 egg weekly or every 10 days, as Pookie is young and he is not overweight. Vet suggested quarter to half an egg at a time. Muse
We were also told egg once a week, but I usually don't give a whole egg. Used to be 1 egg between six birds, now 2 eggs between ten birds. I leave the shell on and cut wedges and just sit it on top of their breakfast or on the 'shelf' on the play stand if they are having breakfast in the play room. (They take turns). They also loved scrambled which I make in the skillet using coconut oil. I will have to try drizzling it with red palm oil. Last 'omelet' I made was with popped amaranth and they loved it.
