KimKim Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 There is a cage there I want to buy, but I'm in CA and can't get anyone up there until this weekend. But I would like for the cage to get out of the guys house so he doesn't sell it... Just seeing if anyone here would be willing to pick up and hold for me until the weekend??
KimKim Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 My dad has a cousin who lives close, he's going to email him to see if he can get it for me. I really hope he can... And soon. I really want this cage! I went on uship.com and I do have one bid for $390 I think.
KimKim Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 I found out my dad has a cousin who live a few miles away! He is going tomorrow to get the cage for me. Now I have time to think about how to get it to me. I'm so happy! Well, I don't actually have it yet... It's a very large expandable habitats cage:D when I do get it, I will definitely post a new thread about it! I hope I don't jinx myself by posting this before the cage is bought.
katana600 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 I've been watching and hoping this works out for you too.
KimKim Posted March 23, 2014 Author Posted March 23, 2014 Thanks! My dad's cousin did pick it up, I'm just waiting for a few more bids to come in on uship.com. It is pretty dirty, covered in dried macaw poop. Here is a couple pics.
katana600 Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 It looks like stainless steel. You will be able to clean it up and disinfect it and it will be a life long investment. Hoping you get it!
KimKim Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 I accepted a bid at $115 and it's on its way to me! I hope it's in good shape.
Greywings Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Wonderful buy! Good for lifetime if it is stainless steel.
katana600 Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Where there is a will there is a way. Great job on hanging in there and finding a way to get it done.
KimKim Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 It's stainless, if it gets here tonight, I'll be spending the day tomorrow disinfecting it. I know it's missing some parts so I'll have to order those too. I got such an incredible deal though, I couldn't pass it up, even with the missing parts and how nasty it was. My dad's cousin power washed it and said it cleaned up nicely.
KimKim Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Ok, I got it! It's huge and taking forever to clean disinfect. After I get the parts and put it together, I will update my cage pics in the cage thread
katana600 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Your dad's cousin is a treasure. This would be an incredible aviary and will last you forever. Disinfecting and assembling will be a challenge and adventure. You will find just the right spot for it and have happy use from it as you create a living space for a very lucky parrot.
kins2321@yahoo.com Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 KimKIm... Sooo happy for you! You were determined and made it happen! I LOVE it. Now remember, it takes birds a little time to trust a new cage, no matter how nice it is!DONT be disappointed if bird is cautious. Move favorite gym or cage up close to new one.Give your baby time to investigate. Nancy
KimKim Posted April 2, 2014 Author Posted April 2, 2014 Thanks. It won't be ready to use until next week sometime. My grey is usually pretty good about new things, but I will bring the cage in and let him see it for a day or two or three, depending on how he reacts.
