Quirky
I tried searching and did not see an answer to this. I found a used Manzanita play stand online for a great price. Before I contact the seller I really wanted to find out the general opinon on if it can be sanitized/ disinfected to make it safe for Jake, and if so what method would you recommend. If it can be sanitized properly I would definentely go through the process twice. All the same if it is too risky then it's not worth it.
BaileysPapa
I use a steam cleaner on the cages & playstands. If it is not heavily soiled, clean with brush in a water/bleach mix, rinse well, set in sun to dry completely. I also use vinegar & water to clean & disinfect things. Try to find out why they're selling it. I wouldn't take anything if the previous bird has died.
KimKim
If I buy used bird items (only cages or stands), I use bleach and water. Then rinse really well and put it in the sun for hours.
Brat Birds
As above, but do it at least twice. Also, as hot a hot water as possible. Set in the sun for a few days. I have had a couple of cages I cleaned like that.
