M'sBabies
I always play this game with Phoenix where I'll put him on his perch and run up the steps (Straight line from his room) and hide in my bedroom. He comes to find me. All curtains are always closed whenever he is out. Tonight I didn't realize the one window curtain was open and he flew right into the window. He turned right away and landed on me and seems fine. I think my heart just finally started beating again. I know that usually they learn boundaries but I will always be afraid to ever leave curtains open. The strange thing is that he did it while it was dark out. judygram
You are not a bad mommy, you just made a mistake and we all make them from time to time and since Phoenix is fine don't sweat the small stuff and make sure the curtains are closed the next time you play your game with him. M'sBabies
Thanks, I feel awful. I just keep thinking what could have happened. We live like vampires for his safety. Some people told me to have colored sheers up so that we can get light and he will be safe. I think we will be curtain shopping this weekend. SRSeedBurners
Greycie is just past her 1yo bday and she flew into a window on the other side of her tree. I couldn't believe it as she knows it's there. Occasionally they will.
M'sBabies
Was Greycie ok? Phoenix seems just fine. I almost had heart failure though.
SRSeedBurners
Ok as far as I know. She wasn't in a fright-flight, we're just baffled that she did it. It's not like it was in her way either as she has to go up and over her tree and then down sharply to hit the glass. She's a weird one sometimes. Luvparrots
I have gel window stickers on all my large windows. I found some cute ones like flowers and trees and such at the Dollar Store. The nice thing is that I can remove them whenever I want and replace them elsewhere. Rather convenient. Hope Phoenix is okay.
shane
I can relate to the heart failure. I'm glad everything is ok.
kins2321@yahoo.com
It is important to practice flying with baby birds. One to " send off", one parent to receive. They struggle with " perception" of space. Putting anything in the window was quite helpful, for them to learn where their space begins, and where their space ends.
