I am assuming that it is a normal amazon behavior to raise it's crest and head bob? Why do they do that? I have noticed Echo do that when he feels threatened, but at other times seemingly for no reason.

Coincidently, I am loving Echo's laid back personality next to Radar's. The kids were playing with a balloon earlier. Radar is terrified of balloons and will fly if it comes anywhere near him. Echo on the other hand stood with rapt attention and wanted to bite it. (Of course that would never be allowed). Echo is just so interested in everything around him. Maybe it's the age, or his personality, or a mixture of both.

I'm not sure what the head bobbing means. It seems like when I've seen it the parrots are usually happy and trying to engage. Gracie my CAG never head bobs.

Timber bobs his head a lot. Usually when a song he likes is playing or when he gets excited. He is a TAG though, don't know if that same behavior is excitement in an Amazon or not!

Cricket bobs her head and swings it all around. She enjoys doing this and sometimes sings as she dose this.

I think she sometimes dose this to get additional attention as she gets all excited when I ask her. Are you dancing ??

My Tigger (BFA) used to fluff his crest and head bob but he would also wildly swing his head in a circular-swivel pattern and his wings would be splayed. He was definitely getting himself overexcited and having a good time. Usually accompanied by loud head banging music from his hoomans too.

Our red-bellied parrot will sway excitedly when she is happy and seeking attention. Our Timneh is still very conservative with movement still and I have never seen her sway or head bob but I expect it will come in good time.

Nice video Ray, Cricket is so affectionate and tuned in to you. Would you believe after I posted yesterday that I never see Miss Gilbert doing the head bob, today she got excited for the football game and my hubby's exuberance and she was head bobbing and swaying. Go figure. Never say never.
