Cinnyminis Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 We went to go visit Echo, our 8 week old orange winged amazon earlier today. Much to our surprise, although he is on two feedings a day still, we were able to bring him home today! So, my question is this: I have read elsewhere that you should quarantine new birds when you bring them home. Is this true in every situation? Radar (10mo CAG) has been introduced and I hung a new toy in between the cages to discourage him from wanting to go over there for awhile. Can I leave them in the same room now, or should I move the new baby to my room for a few weeks? Beth
judygram Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Well since you have already put them in the same room its a moot point now to quarantine but if this baby was given a clean bill of health from the breeder then he should be just fine. Quarantine is usually recommended when someone brings a rehome or rescued bird in when they already have birds, you don't know what they may have been exposed to or might carry. I would love to see some pictures of Echo if you would indulge us.
