How to post videos easily

All,

I checked with the powers that be and said it was ok to post this.

I noticed alot of folks were having trouble with posting videos and I got tired of youtube and all the advertising embedded into my videos, so I made a video site to make uploading videos and posting them a snap.

With my new found love of parrot topics, I made a site specifically for Grey videos, although all parrot videos are welcome.

Your video will not be embedded with advertising site logos or anything, just your video.

I embed the site logo on my videos only in case someone decides they want to use it.

Go to http:\\greyvid.com

1. Register (You can use fake info EXCEPT for a working email, the system sends an email back to you to confirm you are a real person and not a spam bot)

2. Upload your video. It can be in just about any format your device cranks out.

The only limitation is size it has to be 300 MB or less and 300 MB is a BIG clip.

All the fields are required except sub category

It will look like this.

After filling in the data fields click Continue to Upload

It will look like this.

upload1.jpg

Click the Browse button and navigate to where your video is on your pc.

Click the video you want and then click the Upload button.

It will look like this.

After your upload is complete, give the system a moment to process your video and go back to the main site by clicking the site logo in the top left corner.

Find your video and click on it.

It will look like this...

3. After you click the share/embed button two code snippets will appear. You want the BBC (Bulletin Board Code): Just copy and paste the code in the top box into your post.

What will show up after posting it is this.....

It is really is kind of simple and easy after you do it once, but I understand some folks do not live on their PC's for a living, so I would be glad to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks for putting this together and making it so accessible. Your explanations are excellent. Now all I have to do is to get Gilbert more acclimated to seeing a camera so I might someday get an actual video of him. I have tried the tripod and remote to start the video. If the camera is up, he will be a little stone statue and he remains wary for two weeks. I keep trying new methods and some day when I succeed, I will be looking for this thread again.

Just a quick update, Talon and others had mentioned the mobile device issue where it does not work.

It is now Apple and Android compatible. You can also upload pictures and videos directly from your device. (on apple devices you have to go to the "PC Site" by hitting the button in the top left corner to upload videos or pictures in the manner already described. The skin for Apple only supports viewing)

If you are using Apple, there is a tricky conversion process after it is uploaded, so essentially it has to encode twice.

The bottom line is the cron job runs every ten min, so a video will not be available for viewing on an apple device for between 1 and 10 min after uploading. Androids are immediate.

Current videos are all available immediately.

I'm still tweaking this for the Apple side (Difficult) so if the color scheme is off in some places please forgive me, I am working on it, but it is functional.

Ok, I think.....not sure, because I do not have all the devices to test it with, it should work on ANY mobile device. When you go to the site you will see a FLASH required in the featured video, however if you click on a video or picture it will take you to a mobile page for browsing and viewing.

If you have a mobile device and try it, and you can not view a video, please let me know and I can look up the device.

I know a lot of people use YouTube and that's fine, this is just an alternative and may be easier to use for some folks.
