ranaz
I was feeding my baby this morning ( he is 11 weeks old now) , and for the first time I have a clear look of whats inside his mouth. At the back of his throat I see an opening, it looks like a hole. Is that normal?? He was seen by a vet on Saturday, the day I got him and vet said he is a healthy baby He is eating well (formula by a spoon), pooping regularly and playing and walking around. Seems happy and active, he even perched for the first time yesterday and is very much interested in the new toys I introduced. I am only concerned if this hole is a normal thing or caused by a previous injury I am checking out African grey anatomy but havent found anything so far Any comments? judygram
I think what you are seeing is normal but if you want to put a call into your vet's office to verify then please do to set your mind at ease.

Hi again, called the vet and he confirmed its the normal opening to the crop. Seems Im being too paranoid, but better paranoid than having to deal with a problem
Timbersmom
Call me paranoid too, but I definitely go by the "better safe than sorry" motto with my bird!
Greywings
Yes it is normal and glad you asked the Vet for advice when you found yourself uncertain. You did good.
kins2321@yahoo.com
" When in doubt.... give a shout!" Thats my motto. When I call my vet to make an appointment for one of my gang.... there are two of us with the same name. I always cut it short by saying " I'm the one with the thick chart!" danmcq
You know how they say owners and pets are alike? Us Grey owners are just as "Phobic" as they are. But, when it comes to their health and well being, it's a good thing.
