lday998
I live up in Duluth, Minnesota and have a 10 month old african grey. It's pretty cold up hear most of the year, but now that it's starting to warm up, I'm looking for cage ideas for outside during the warmer weather. He would only be outside when I'm out there with him working in the garden (we have a seasonal hawk population, which why a cage is a must). He is absolutely fearless of everything so far so he'll love being outside. I'm just needing to find a cage that I can pack away in the garage during the winter but that is large enough for him to chill out in for a few hours during the day with me. Any ideas? Would an aluminum travel carrier be adequate or should I think bigger? Building a cage isn't feasible for us due to the seasons and various other outdoor projects we're already planning. murfchck
Think bigger! Get a bigger cage that will break down for the colder months. Try a harness. To me a travel carrier would like us being trapped in a tube, wheres the fun in that? Its the time for your baby to be what he is, a bird! Let him fly and forage and play! Maybe build a aviary that can double as a greenhouse. Edited April 2, 2013 by murfchck
JeffNOK
I have a travel carrier that is not especially big, but is about 21X18X21. It is not dark or enclosed like a typical pet carrier. I take Gracie to the park in it and she is fine. She can see all around her and feel the breeze and sun and keep an eye on me. It's been wonderful, and I think it would be fine for a couple of hours. It is the same one that luvparrots has and she has posted a video or two of her fids enjoying it outside if you care to hunt those older posts down to take a look-see.
