Timbersmom
OK Pak-O-Bird owners... I am about to bite the bullet and buy one. My question is this.... Timber is a small TAG (barely in the range size-wise). Do I need a medium or would the small work? Thanks!
Wingy
Go with at least the medium and buy the one specifically for Greys. When you unpack and put it together there is a thin bar wrapped in the straps which is a crossbar support for the top. Don't bother getting the stroller. The Snap-n-go EX is much cheaper and sturdier. I found mine at Babies R Us.
Timbersmom
Thanks! The hard part of having to order everything on-line is never being able to see what it actually looks like!

Wingy
Here are a few tips. If your going to use it as a car carrier practice first with it empty and then with a jingle bell toy inside so you can learn how to do it smoothly. Adjust the straps so you can wear the pack up front. Wiggle and bend getting used to how it feels and how to walk around things. Once your comfortable put Timber inside and walk around the inside of the house. When he is comfortable make little trips to check the mail, do things in the yard etc before going on an outing around strangers. If he is riding on your front you can see into the pac and watch how he is reacting. Jake takes it all in stride but I have to keep the side curtain closest to the car window closed because he is afraid of the large vehicles. Timbersmom
Thanks for the advice! I plan on using is for outings and for transport. My biggest fear is that I will get it and won't be able to get him to go in it easily. I'd like to be able to use it a lot, not just to go to the vet. I spend a lot of time outside in the spring, summer and fall and would like for him to be able to go too, especially since it will cut into his out of cage time. Wingy
There are holders to attach favorite toys which does help. I use toys that are soft and lightweight in case I have to swerve.
Jayd
You've been given some fantastic advice, by some good people.....
Timbersmom
OK, bit the bullet and ordered the pak-o-bird for greys. If I can't get him in it, I'll probably be on here trying to get somebody to buy it! I have high hopes though. Thanks for the good advice
Wingy
Once you put it together place it where he can get to it but not tip it over, hang some favorite toys in there and let him see you putting some yummy treats inside. Then just walk away and let him explore it when he is ready.
Timbersmom
Will do. I already have a spot cleared off for it!
Wingy
From the other thread. http://www.greyforums.net/forums/showthread.php?198817-Alternative-to-Pak-O-Bird I just bit the bullet a few weeks ago and bought the pak-o-bird for greys. I didn't find anything I thought looked as nice for my purposes and that I thought would be durable. That said, I still haven't managed to get Timber in it, but we are getting there (I hope)! Have you tried filling it with good stuff, wearing it on your chest and walking around where Timber can see you?
Timbersmom
Ah ha! I've filled it with good things but haven't tried putting it on and walking around. I'll try that, thanks! I've had it sitting a few feet from him for a couple of weeks and will put his favorite stuff in there when he is on my arm and move it close. When I move him toward it he moves up my arm away from it. Good idea about putting it on though. I hadn't thought of that.
