Cosmo's new feathers

My picker grey as gotten past the picking, I think, no feathers in the cage and he is going through a molt now. The feathers on his chest look tattered and I see a whole lot of pin feathers coming in. What concerns me is he looks as though he is replacing all the feathers on his chest. Has anyone experienced this with their grey? Is there something else going on? I would appreciate any guidance you can give me on this matter. Cosmo is 15 years old.

I don't have any personal experience with this, but this forum has several threads concerning feather picking, so I would start there. Good luck and keep us posted.

It's great if he is not plucking any longer. Tatter feathers will molt out as you describe. Just make certain you keep him bathed and use 100 percent aloe juice and mist the breast area with it. Those pin feathers are very irritating to them when a ton are coming in as you describe.

Dan is right, bathing him with aloe vera juice will be soothing to him as those pins can be irritating but thats great he is no longer plucking.
