Can Banana skins hurt Greys? Alfie jsut managed to get hold of one and went in for the kill not sure how much he has eatten if any, but boy what a mess

Not that I know of. Dayo will just shred and toss that peel and dig in to eat as much banana as he can. They pretty know which part of any fruit is the peeling and the good stuff. Ever watched one skin a grape? You'll see the skin drop intact and devoid of the meat complete. They can do things with a beak better than we can with a knife.

He wont touch grapes yet, but clearly like bananas!

Try different color grapes, if you haven't. Dayo will normally toss green grapes. But, Red or black he loves. Also, this is true with apples, he loves fuji's, red delicious are ok, the green he does not seem to like much.

The same with Rosie, only red grapes.

arrrrrh Thanks I have only tried the green grapes, but will now get some black/red never even crossed my mind to try different colours, hope he will try one would love to see him peel it

Lol, mine eat the green and toss the red. With apples neither straight red or straight green, must have both colors on that skin or out of the bowl it goes! Bananas however i get the hurry up whistle! The greys will also only eat an orange if my husband hands it to them, if i try to put that in their bowl, forget it.

Just make sure you have washed those Banana skins well to avoid pesticides. I have a friend whose Cockatoo only likes the skins not the Banana.
