aw64 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Hi guys after much reading on here last night I have done Alfie his first chop, its been a big hit he has eatten so much of it tonight, I read loads and then just made up my own with what i had got, a small carrott, some brocccli, parsnip, and spouts then I cooked some grains and some bean mix, mixed it all together with small amount of seed mix, what a hit it has been, now to start making it with many other things that I have read about on her.
Timbersmom Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Good deal! It's a blessing when your bird will eat something that is good for them. Good going
Wingy Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 I never thought about adding seed to the mix. Jake might be more willing to eat it that way. I'll give that a try.
aw64 Posted February 9, 2013 Author Posted February 9, 2013 it works I add small amount of seed some grains cooked and mixed beans but with it all mixed up Alfie has to eat some of the veg if he wants the best bits, he loves it been a real big hit.
judygram Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 That looks great and it did the job of getting him to eat his veggies.
suzy1 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Can you tell me just how you made this and is it just for baby birds how you chopped it and how long it last and how you store it and what seeds you used thanks so much
aw64 Posted February 28, 2013 Author Posted February 28, 2013 Hi suzy1 its so simple all i do is put some bits of what ever veg I have carrotts, broccili, cauliflower, anything really then stick it in my blender for a couple of mins, its not just for baby birds Alfies nearly 1, seeds i add are just normal parrot seed mix but I only add small amount after I have blended it, I mix it in and then when he trys to sort best bits out (seed) the veg sticks to it so he has to eat it. I normaly do two days worth at a time one he eats that day then i just pop one in the fridge for next day, but I have also done some and popped it into freezer bags and frozen it so i can take it out night before for next day, I have also added fruit sometimes, apple grapes, basicly anything that is good for our birds, blend it and mix a small amount of seed or what ever they love most and away you go.
