Scooter too
Scooter my 17 year old Gray, started laying eggs on December 24. I removed the first egg, as it was cracked on December 26th. she immediately laid another one the next day. She has laid a total of 4 eggs. I have left the other three in the bottom of her cage, and since then, Scooter has diligently sat on her eggs, leaving them only to eat and drink. She has never laid eggs before. She has not talked in the past month since she has been sitting on her eggs, and no longer wants to play or interact with her human family. I have given her new fun toys which would normally excite her, but she is devoted to those eggs. I was told that she would eventually get it, that they are not going to hatch, but it's been a month. How long do I leave the eggs in there ? Will she continue to lay new ones ? When is it time to call the Avian Vet ? Scooter appears to be in fine health. I have provided her with lots of good food, and she eats ALOT ! She is especially fond of scrambled eggs, cheese, chicken thigh bones, with some meat on them, roasted peanuts. I would like some advice please !!!!

When she's distracted, take one egg out. Wait about 5/7 days and then remove another one. Another 5 days, remove another etc. If you remove all of them at once they'l be problems. When all the eggs are gone remove any items that she may consider to be nesting items that she can get to. Newspaper, soft cloth, huggy toys. The food you're giving is fine and doesn't have anything to do with a possible desire to drop eggs. Nature caused that and more than likely, it won't happen again considering that she's an adult who never did this before but just remember that it's possible that it may happen again. There's no reason for a vet because she's not doing anything that has to do with illness.
