Chop storage

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone!

So, I have been searching to see if there is another way besides ziploc bags to store the chop in the freezer. I'm a bit of a tree hugger and hated throwing out so many of those bags. I found freezer trays for baby food that could replace the bags and be reused. Below is a link. :)

Thanks. I'm w/you on the plastic bags! I originally tried ice cube trays, too. But after a while, I wasn't crazy about working w/them. I'd just as soon avoid plastic containers, anyway. So, I found these type of 6 oz glass containers.

They're a nice size to store on the door. A cup will thaw overnight in the fridge. Each portion lasts roughly 2 days per fid. Don't have to worry about random chunks keeping the cover from sealing & the food just seemed fresher. I also like the way they clean compared to anything else.

So, if the trays don't work out long term, this might be another alternative.

1-cup Ziploc Snap 'n Seal cups. Available at Walmart and Target.

These are sold in boxes of 12 or so, and dishwasher cleaned, and reused. I mix up enough of my bean/rice/veggie mix to fill about 3 dozen of these and into the freezer. I pull one out, let it thaw, and serve from it until I need another.
